Performing Arts News: It has been a year of growth and accomplishment for the Latham Players. This group of 14 residents in our Adult Services program regularly entertains audiences with songs, skits, and dances they have mastered. In this 4-part blog series, we honor The Players for their accomplishments, and we thank everyone who supports their artistic and musical aspirations.
The Latham Players participated in CapeCodCAN’s 7th Annual musical review, “Seaside Summit at the Grand Escape Hotel,” in May at the Cotuit Center for the Arts. Seaside Summit, an original musical written by CapeCodCAN* Program Director Katy Paul in collaboration with the performers, was “yet another great opportunity for our Players to collaborate with members of CCC from all over the Cape,” noted Latham Players Artistic Director Dinah Lane. As part of The Players’ chorus, they sang two baseball-related numbers, “You Gotta Have Heart” and “Take Me Out to the Ballgame.” Leona R. also sang the solo, “How Far I’ll Go.” Some of the Latham Players had acting roles in the production as well, which required extra work and rehearsal time on their part, Dinah said. “They were so excited and proud of their roles, and they stepped up to the challenge and fully mastered it!”
Dinah added that the Players did a terrific job preparing for the show. “We are all grateful for the support they have received not only from the CapeCodCAN producers, but from their staff as well, to be able to participate so fully in the production. *About the Cape Cod Collaborative Arts Network (CapeCodCAN): The arts network provides opportunities for inclusion and active participation in the arts for people with unique talents and all abilities on Cape Cod. The Seaside Summit musical was their most ambitious production ever, featuring nearly 100 performers representing eight agencies, day and residential programs from all over Cape Cod.
