Team Latham raises over $13K in The Gasp bike ride

The 28th riding of “The Gasp” Bike, Boat & Bake fundraiser took place Sunday, and we’d like to congratulate our nine riders who rode 55 miles to the finish line, collectively raising over $13,000 for Latham Centers!  Director of Development Heather Kelsey (who rode for Latham for the second year), thanked everyone on Team Latham. “What a great day – the sun was shining, friends and family members were cheering us on from Sandwich to Provincetown, and each one of our riders participated with heart and determination. I cannot thank my teammates enough for training, fundraising, and riding to support Latham – we are so very grateful!”

Team Latham included staff members Anne McManus, Heather Kelsey, Gina Sheehan, and Dawn Dinnan; Latham Board of Directors Chair Chris Gillstrom Burgess; Latham family member Steve Bebrin; and Latham friends Mark Burgess, Laura Walters, and Eri Takahashi.

Donations are still coming in; all funds raised in this event will go to the capital campaign for the new Latham Community and Arts Center. We’re grateful to our friends from Community Connections, Inc. (CCI), an allied charity for Latham in this year’s The Gasp. Latham will receive a portion of CCI’s total funds raised.

Highlights of the day appear in the photo collage, including: Team Latham just prior to the 7 a.m. start in Sandwich, sporting their new team shirts (sponsored by Encore Construction and Scargo Property Services); Chris completing an early “Gasp” ride (pictured with Anne along the route a week prior); Latham team members on the post-ride trip back to Sandwich via the ferry ride across Cape Cod Bay; Anne and Eri at the first water stop;  and The Gasp riders moments prior to heading out to Route 6A.

We hope to double our team size in The Gasp 2020 – it’s a fun day, a wonderful cause, and a great way to set a fitness goal. In the words of Anne McManus, “If I can do it, anyone can do it!”
