The Gasp challenge: Team Latham rides for our capital campaign
August 28, 2019
Some of our Latham staff members will ride in next month’s The Gasp 55-mile bike ride on behalf of Latham Centers. They have been training and fundraising and are looking forward to the challenge!
On Sunday, September 15, 2019, The Gasp: Bike, Boat ‘N Bake fundraising event incorporates a 55-mile bike ride, an hour-long Cape Cod Bay Cruise, and a Cape Cod lobster boil. It’s an all-day event filled with hard work and fun to benefit multiple Cape Cod charities. Team Latham is riding to support Latham Centers’ mission-driven work. Two staff participants shared why they’re riding:
-
Heather Kelsey, Director of Development: “Latham is an incredible residential school and treatment program serving children and adults with complex special needs. I am not an avid cyclist. I am not even an enthusiastic cyclist. I don’t own a road bike (I’ll be renting again this year), and I regularly whine and complain every time I hop on the bike to train. However, I am a huge fan of the children and adults at Latham Centers. The individuals we serve face tough challenges every day with grit, optimism, and determination. They, along with their families, are the inspiration for my ride.” Support Heather here.

Dawn Dinnan, Director of Communications: “I’m riding in honor of our dedicated Latham staff and the individuals we serve – all of whom teach us vital life lessons and make our work meaningful. I am thrilled that our team’s efforts in The Gasp will help fund the much anticipated Latham Community and Arts Center. And on a personal note, I have loved my weekend training rides on the Cape Cod Rail Trail with my daughter (and future ‘Gasper’)!” Support Dawn here.
